“How I
Met Your Mother” fans finally get a glimpse at what the mother’s been
doing over the past 8 years in “How Your Mother Met Me.”
“How I Met Your Mother” celebrated its 200th
episode by catching us all up on what “the mother” has been doing over
the past 8 years while we were busy following the lives of Ted, Marshall, Lily, Robin, and Barney.
The night that Ted meets Robin, also known as the night Marshall and Lily get engaged, it happened to be the mother’s 21st birthday!
Her friends gather at a different MacClaren’s pub in NYC as the mother waits for her boyfriend, Max.
She gets a call and finds out her boyfriend has died.
2 years later she’s still mourning, working on her “robot art” and moping.
Finally, her roommate gets her to go to a St.
Patrick’s Day party, where she accidentally leaves her yellow umbrella
when she meets Mitch (aka Naked Man) who she invites to her apartment
and he tries the “naked man” on her, but it doesn’t work.
The mother finds herself in the class that Ted accidentally teaches instead of architecture, and notices him right away.
The mother is obviously emotionally scarred from her boyfriend’s death and finds it hard to fall in love.
However, she does find a man named Lewis, whom she likes, but just doesn’t feel in love with.
The weekend of Robin and Barney’s wedding she’s in
Farhampton with her band to perform at their reception when Lewis
surprises her with a proposal.
The mother tells Lewis no, after having a heartbreaking conversation with her late boyfriend, Max, asking for permission to move on from him.
She checks into the Farhampton Inn in the room next
to Ted’s. When she begins playing music Ted hears her and is a part of a
very emotional moment with the woman he would later marry, although
neither of them know it.
This was a great episode of “How I Met Your Mother,” and made viewers love the mother even more than they already did.
Cristin Milioti gave a great performance in the
episode, and if there was ever any doubt that she’s the perfect match
for Ted it has dissolved.
Everything is coming to an end, and fans can feel
the loose ends beginning to tie up. While their sad about the end of
“How I Met Your Mother,” they can be excited for the spin-off,
“How I Met Your Dad,” which won’t consist of any of the same
characters, but will hopefully have the same lovable humor that makes
‘HIMYM’ so great.
